Q why is my EZH/EZHD dvr displaying a message : "Scan and repair discs by force due to abnormal shutdown ?"
A: This is a normal procedure when the dvr suffers an abnormal shutdown or power cut , all EZH dvrs from firmware version 55b3 and all EZHD dvrs from firmware 565w have this facility which enables the unit to automatically scan and repair any file issues with the hdd due to the sudden power cut in a view to safely bringing the unit back online with minimum distruption. When this happens the unit should be left to carry out the scan , if the scan is successful the dvr will automatically begin recording again but if the scan fails you will be prompted to format the hard drive.
NOTE : you will only be asked to format the hard drive if fatal file system errors have occurred due an abnormal shut down of the dvr and to prevent this you should always shut the unit down using the front power button or power down option with the osd menu.

Q: Why do none of the front controls respond on my EZH/EZHD dvr ?
A: This may be because someone has purposely or inadvertently enabled the key lock function , check it there is a small icon of a key (EZH) or a small icon of a padlock (EZHD) next to the on screen time and date to confirm this. The key lock facility can be enabled/disabled by simply holding the ESC button for 10 seconds (the key lock icon will disappear when facility is disabled).
